Nintendo life metroid dread2/18/2024 ![]() I haven't played this game in ages because I just know that games with editors like this will take up more time than I can afford. The only downside was the online performance. People call the game disappointing, but I think SMM2 was the perfect sequel, honestly. The button controls feel pretty intuitive when you get used to them, and if you just have to use a touch screen, you can buy a stylus. They were neat, but I don't think their absence in SMM2 makes it an objectively worse game-far from it. Being able to put Sonic or Mega Man in a level was neat to an extent, but it's not like the characters played like their respective movesets, and when you get hit and lose the mushroom, the illusion is broken. People will complain about the amiibo costumes, but being restricted to the 8-bit aesthetic really limited their appeal to me when all the other themes were just so much more visually interesting. Lots of other features I never would've expected too, like Phanto from SMB2, night mode, quality of life features like being able to adjust the autoscroll, multiplayer co-op and races. The first game felt like so much missed potential, and the sequel added just about everything I thought was missing: new themes like snow and desert, a world maker, additional boss enemies (the Koopalings, Boom Boom), new power-ups, even the slopes people wouldn't shut up about for some reason. ![]() I don't care what anyone says, Super Mario Maker 2 is vastly superior to the Wii U original.
